A Note to My Newly Single Self

This space has always been somewhere I come to get things off my chest. The hundreds of anonymous reader have never once seemed as scary as actually talking about how I’m feeling in real life. My little part of the internet has always felt like mine and I’m so proud of it and I’ve been neglecting it hugely recently and here's one big reason why!

A few months or so ago I broke up with my boyfriend of two and a half years. I’m not going to go into the break up at all as I completely respect his privacy and know that those anonymous faces I was talking about earlier can also be from my “real” world. So, I’ve digressed…my world has changed drastically and I’ve entered the new exciting world of singledom in your mid to late 20’s.

But has anything really changed from three years ago. I think to answer this honestly, the singles world probably hasn’t, but I have. As a newly single lady I wanted to make some points to myself and any other newly single ladies that I could come back to if I ever get into a slump…which I’m sure at some point is inevitable as it’s all a little bit too fun and exciting at the moment.

My Tips

  • Be you Ellen! You’re not here to play an adorable, inspirational panic pixie dream girl character for every man you meet!
  • Have sex or don’t have sex it can mean what ever you want it to mean
  • Have all the fun but don’t just think about yourself
  • Still give it a go even if he’s not “Your type on paper”
  • Make time for your friends and family and listen to there options - they are always right, you know this deep down
  • Do not put all your eggs into one basket unless that basket is well supported and can hold all said eggs

So in the worlds of Blu Cantrell..
"When love hurts
It won’t work
Maybe we need some time alone
We need to let it breathe"

And Breathe..
